Historic Home with Air BnB Potential
Sitting atop what appears to be the highest elevation on 2nd street, lies this enchanting historic 2 story home built in 1905. If you just need a home for your family then this one is not for you. This home is almost 120 years old but stands proud strong among the neighborhood homes. Of course the metal roof is not original but it does serve to protect the integrity of the structure for years to come. A large porch has been added the east side of the house that measures approximately 10' x 45'. The porch floor is concrete slab. The front door is wood with beveled glass inserted. Above the front door is a louvered window which serves for assisting in increasing airflow through the home. The owners tell how amazing the airflow is through the home and how comfortable they stayed even through the summertime without AC. They report that they would only sometimes use a window unit in their bedroom during the hottest summer days. The ceilings are all 10' high throughout the house. A small foyer welcomes guest into the home and then has access to two larger rooms. How you define the two larger rooms depends on your lifestyle and preferences. The owners call the room to the front of the house the parlor. We really do not use that word today but this is the area where you receive guest and sit and visit with each other. This would be the more public room of the house. The other large room they consider their family room. One might have a TV, radio or small library in this room. From the family room you can enter into the dining room through a large double pocket door walkway. The dining area has original wood floors with a little character to them. Three bay windows look out from the dining area which allows for ample natural light. The next adjoining room is the kitchen. The cabinets are all on one wall and you will quickly notice that some cabinet doors will not stay closed because they have served to assist with lots of good hot meals over the past century. The kitchen windows have some stained glass decoration as well as one more stained glass window in the foyer. The kitchen counter tops have been updated with some Mosaic stone pattern and also an attractive brass faucet over the large double bowl porcelain sink. The downstairs bathroom has been completely remodeled with a roomy shower and ceramic tile throughout. The master bedroom is also downstairs which saves on old knees and located right off the kitchen for short travel to investigate for midnight snacks or beverages. To access the back door and upstairs you move through the laundry room which, by the way, everything has been completely rewired and re-plumbed. The stairs are a bit narrow and covered with carpet. At the top of the stairs you will find the first dormer window with a unique view over the top of downtown Brady. The upstairs bathroom has a claw foot bath tub over a ceramic tile floor. Perfect area to enjoy a long relaxing bath! Long relaxing baths are a diminishing self indulgence in our increasingly fast-paced quick shower world. The 2 upstairs bedrooms are surprisingly large. One measures 16 x 18 with a window dormer area on either side. The other bedroom is 11 x 19. Should you choose make this home into an Air B n B you could sleep a lot of folks in these two rooms.
The extra lots are located to the rear of the main property and are heavily wooded. This area could stand to be cleared and adapted into parking and exterior landscaping. Yes there is work to be done to this property but you will not find many this old and this well in tact. She is waiting for someone to come and take over assuming the role of loving and appreciating her.
Property taxes for 2019 were $1445.84 with no exemptions. The lots measure 100' x 157'
